The battle against TikTok is on
Meta introduces its newest short-form video content - Facebook Reels. This is to up Meta’s game against the pioneer in video content platform - TikTok.
An official statement was published on February 22, 2022, letting everyone know that Facebook Reels is out globally and can be a new channel for creators.
Since it was announced, Facebook Reels is now available in 150 more regions across the globe.
Reels are displayed at the top of the user's News Feed - allowing more people to see them.
Here, creators can post videos of up to 60 seconds, will include a remix functionality, and share publicly posted content to their Stories.
Facebook will also add a draft functionality and clipping option. They are also testing new stickers and overlay ads to add sponsored content to videos.
TikTok, on the other hand, is being called out by some creators because of its flawed monetization models.
Here’s a video of Hank Green, a Youtube and TikTok star, discussing the Creator Fund and how it affects creators’ payouts.
TikTok isn’t sitting still, of course. They added creator tips while working on creator subscriptions and Creator Marketplace.
Currently, TikTok is also exploring long-form video content and live streams in building the platform.
We all know money talks.
So, it’s understandable that social media platforms try their best to be fair in their monetization scheme.
